Since 2014, the Universidade Federal do Acre have been trying to implement a sustainable garbage collection system. But the action faced some problems, especially because of the lack of an ethical behavior coming from the academic community, by not separating and properly discarding the garbage. Adopting another approach, the app Cataki allows people to find and keep contact with waste pickers to give a proper purpose for trash. Unfortunately, it is know that these works usually don’t have access to smartphones, but their register in the app could be done by a group compromised and able to access the Internet. That way, it up to the academic community to look for these people, ask for more information about their job (phone number, kind of waste collected) and share it with other people. By the end, we hope to make their activity easier, keeping in mind the Amazonian reality and our needs.
